    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for preparing CuxMo6S8(copper molybdenum sulfide) powders is provided to conveniently synthesize a Cu_xMo_6S_8 compound of a chevrel phase at a relatively low reaction temperature by adding an MoCl5 compound with low melting point. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing CuxMo6S8(copper molybdenum sulfide) powders comprises: a production step(S1) for producing a Cu_xMo_6S_8 compound through a synthetic reaction by adding Cu, MoCl5, and S powder in an ethylenediamine solvent; a cooling step(S2) for naturally cooling the solvent in which the product from the production step; a centrifugation step(S3) for separating the products from the cooled solvent; a washing step(S4) for repetitively washing the separated product with distilled water and alcohol; and a drying step(S5) for drying the product to obtain the Cu_xMo_6S_8 powder.
