Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and a device for starting a vehicle engine in an emergency through authentication are provided to easily authenticate a user through an authentication certificate of a portable storage device or an USIM chip of a mobile phone. CONSTITUTION: A device for starting a vehicle engine in an emergency through authentication comprises a storage unit(2), a connection unit, a power supply unit, a power supplying signal unit, and a control unit. The storage unit stores data required for authentication. The connection unit connects the storage unit and the power supply unit to read the data. The power supply unit supplies power to the connection unit. The power supplying signal unit outputs a signal for controlling the power supply unit. The control unit performs an authentication work through the read data and starts a vehicle engine according to the result of the authentication work.
