Abstract: PURPOSE: An intrusion detection apparatus which has a self diagnosis function and a method thereof are provided to reduce malfunction due to a fault of a sensor, thereby accurately determining an intrusion state. CONSTITUTION: A diagnostic circuit part(115) determines malfunction of a hot-wire detector according to a signal transmitted from a second signal processor and a first signal processor. The diagnostic circuit part comprises a transistor(Q3,Q4), a comparator(1151), and a light emitting device(1152). The transistor is operated according to the signal transmitted from a signal processor. The comparator creates an output signal according to a comparison result of a signal transmitted from the transistor. The light emitting device displays a warning sign by detecting an intrusion state and malfunction of internal devices according to the output signal from the comparator.
