Abstract: PURPOSE: An image encoding/decoding apparatus and method are provided to eliminate the use of a memory area necessary to deblocking filtering. CONSTITUTION: If bit stream for the compression of video data is outputted on the basis of the block video information of the video data and the differential signal of the video information, a reverse processing unit(107~109) performs the reverse transformation and reverse quantization of the video information and the addition of the differential signal. A deblocking filler(110) performs the deblocking of the added video information. A reference video buffer(111) stores the video information deblocked by the deblocking filler. One or more prediction units(101,112) performs the video prediction of the video information using the deblocked video information stored in the reference video buffer.
