Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for tracking an asset based on a ubiquitous sensor network using motion sensing are provided to optimize battery lifetime of an asset node. CONSTITUTION: An asset tracking device(200) based on a USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) includes a motion sensing managing unit(201), a filtering unit(203), and a location information update managing unit(205). The motion sensing managing unit receives motion sensing information from a sensor. The filtering unit filters the motion sensing information based on a filtering parameter. The filtering unit determines to generate motion based on the filtered motion sensing information. The location information update managing unit updates location information according to whether to generate the motion.
