    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for protecting information of a PCM(Pulse Code Modulation) terminal applicable to a PCM code conversion in an ISDN(Integrated Services Digital Network) is provided to perform an information protection through all switches and transmission lines of a network by installing an information protection system in a just front terminal of the network of the PCM terminal, coding data of a channel necessary for the information protection among information transmitted to the network, and decoding the coded data among information transmitted from the network. CONSTITUTION: If a test data(reference code) with a uniform distance is received, a receiving side of an information protection system identifies a code conversion and a kind of the code conversion based on the received test data(S1). If a 8-byte test data(9E,3D,9E,3D9E,3D,9E,3D) transmitted from a transmitting side is received, data after the reference code are decoded and the coded data are transmitted to a terminal(S2-S4). If the received test data(9E,3D,9E,3D9E,3D,9E,3D) are converted into data(B3,I7,B3,I7,B3,I7,B3,I7), an inverse conversion(μto A conversion) of the converted data(B3,I7,B3,I7,B3,I7,B3,I7) is performed and the inversely converted data is decoded, and the conversion(A to μconversion) of the decode data is performed and the converted data is transmitted to the terminal(S5-S9).
