Abstract: According to an embodiment of the present invention, a character string recognizing device is provided to easily recognize a character string image inputted from an image acquiring device such as a scanner and a camera, etc. The character string recognizing device comprises: a character image extracting unit to extract an image division location and divide a character string image into an individual character image when the character string image is inputted; a character combination converting unit to convert the individual character image to a first character image which is combined according to a set combination standard and a second character image which is not combined; a character code converting unit to recognize each character from the first and second character images, generate a first character which is successfully recognized in each character and a similar character corresponding to a second character excluding the first character, recombine the first character and the similar character to be a character according to a recombination standard, and convert the character to a corresponding character code; and a character string code interpreting unit to convert the character code to a character string code according to a set character string code standard.
