Abstract: A time interleaving apparatus of an enhancement layer in a digital multimedia broadcasting system receives a stream of a first length in a first layer modulation mode for time interleaving to generate a common interleaved frame (CIF) of a main service channel (MSC) of the enhancement layer. Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for constructing SFN by the time synchronization of ETI signals outputted from different ensemble multiplexers. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the ETI signal which is time-synchronized with a specific ETI signal is outputted by the synchronization of time-synchronization related parameters included in the ETI frame even if a basic hierarchy and an improvement hierarchy are outputted from different ensemble multiplexers in an AT-DMB system. Therefore, by using the method and apparatus for ETI time synchronization according to the embodiment of the present invention, costs due to the addition of an AT-DMB exclusive ensemble multiplexer are reduced because an existing T-DMB ensemble multiplexer can be recycled in the construction of AT-DMB SFN.
