Abstract: PURPOSE: A dividing coupling packet switching apparatus is provided to enable information exchange by one hop switching in a next-generation packet network through an arbitration technique having a high processing rate by using a space priority designated by queues for use of an internal link. CONSTITUTION: A distribution terminal(1100) has a general CLOS switch fabric structure and consists of i number of M1i x n1 unit switch modules(1110-1130). A switching terminal(1200) consists of j number of m2 x n2 unit switch modules(1210-1230). A coupling terminal(1300) consists of I number of m3 x n31 unit switch modules(1310-1330). Connection links(1510,1610) connect the distribution terminal(1100) and the switching terminal(1200) as well as the switching terminal(1200) and the coupling terminal(1300). One queue is provided as many as the number of one m3 x n31 unit switch modules(1310-1330) existing in the coupling terminal(1300) inside the i number of mli x n1 unit switching modules(1110-1130). Though the switch fabric internal connection are made by links(1510,1610) having two type of uniform characteristics, subscriber terminals with various speeds and network interfacing units are directly received outside the switch fabric, so that information exchange can be possible by one hop switching.
