Abstract: Disclosed are mass flow detection apparatus and a method thereof. The mass flow detection method includes: a flow storage step of storing the flow information corresponding to a received flow in a cache entry; a probability determination step of determining whether the flow corresponding to the flow information stored in the entry which is to be deleted in the cache has the potential to be determined as a mass flow after storing the flow information in the cache entry; a re-storage step of restoring the cache entry to be eliminated according to the probability determination result; a packet count checking step of checking the packet count of the entry storing the flow information; and a mass flow determination step of determining the flow corresponding to the flow information stored in the entry as a mass flow when the packet count value checked in the packet count checking step is more than a predetermined threshold value.
