Abstract: Disclosed are a backlight device for holographic display and a method for holographic display using the same. The backlight device for holographic display includes a point light source generating unit which generates at least one point light source by using an optical fiber, a lens array which collects a light wave diffused from at least one point light source on a viewing window, and a point light source control unit which controls the location of the viewing window by controlling the location of at least one point light source. Therefore, a hologram with a natural color is efficiently reproduced by controlling the location of the viewing window in three axes based on an orthogonal coordinate system and collecting the light wave from the light source on the viewing window.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A holographic display device capable of controlling a viewing window collects optically modulated light wave into the viewing window, and thereby displays a hologram stereo-scopic image to a viewer. CONSTITUTION: A light source module (30) generates coherent light. An input optical system (11) collects the light generated from the light source module to two or more convergence points. An output optical system (20) assembles the light generated from the two or more input optical systems to provide a hologram image. A spatial light modulation module (40) modulates the light.
