Abstract: This method provides a fast and accurate fault diagnosis. This system comprises a system diagnosis checker (12), a diagnosis object generator (11), a fault board detector (13), which constitute a system control board, multiple central processing devices, and an input/output processing board. The method comprises the steps of: providing the diagnosis types; outputting the diagnosis object table; supplying the information on the table; writting and transmitting the results; transmitting the results to the fault board detector; outputting the diagnosis information sheet; and telling the diagnosis information to the user.

Abstract: The local diagnostic monitors in I/O processor boards diagnoses an object which is designated by a system diagnostic monitor to shorten the time necessary to diagnose a system. The diagnostic system comprises a system diagnostic monitor (12) deposited at CPU board to send diagnostic message and to receive diagnostic data from local diagnostic monitors, and local diagnostic monitors deposited at input/output boards to diagnose an object designated by the system diagnostic monitor. The system diagnostic monitor includes a self diagnostic unit (25) for executing self test, and a diagnostic message processor (26) for sending diagnostic message to the local diagnostic monitors and for collecting diagnostic data transmitted from the local diagnostic monitors.

Abstract: The initialization of system process boards, a CPU board and I/O boards is executed in parallel and the initialization of each board is executed execlusively to initialize multiprocessing system effectively. The method includes the steps of: (A) checking contents of a ROM when board a reset signal is received; (B) checking function of RAM and checking that 0 is stored in a RAM as an initial value; (C) checking a real time clock; (D) checking interrupt bus (IB); (E) checking a dual universal asynchronous receiver transmitter (DUART); (F) checking peripheral interface adapters; (G) initializing system memory board (3) and sending system ready (SYS-READY) signal to processor boards; and (H) initializing processor boards exclusively and receiving IAMALIVE signal transmitted from processor boards.

Abstract: The system control board executes self diagnosis by system ready signal not accessing other processor board, forms a system configuration table according to the result and sends Iamalive signal. The method comprises the steps: (A) reading the system configuration table and storing the data on a temperary memory when system ready signal is received; (B) sending system ready and board state signal to other processors as interrupt signals; (C) receiving configuration data and Iamalive signal from processors to which interrupt signals are transmitted; (D) comparing the received configuration data with the configuration data stored on the temperary memory; and (E) displaying processor of which function is out of order and re-forming configuration table.
