Abstract: PURPOSE: A boundary router assuring method for assuring a differentiated service is provided to reflect a service quality to the full requested by a far-end regardless of a traffic processing provided from each transmission network by using a per hop behavior class buffer using a traffic control unit of a boundary router. CONSTITUTION: A boundary router classifies a class for a packet inputted through a traffic control unit(S301) and checks the type of the classified class(S302). If the classified class is EF, the boundary router checks whether there is a space in an EF buffer(S303). If there is a space in the EF buffer, the boundary router assigns the classified class to the EF buffer, and if the EF buffer is full, the boundary router checks whether there is a space in a DE buffer(S306). If there is a space in the DE buffer, the boundary router assigns a portion of the DE buffer to an EF class with a high priority(S307,S308), and transmits an EF packet(S309). If the DE buffer is full, the boundary router checks whether there is a space in an AF buffer(S311). If the AF buffer is full, the boundary router discards the packet(S312). If there is a space in the AF buffer, the boundary router assigns a portion of the AF buffer to the EF class(S313,S314), and transmits the EF packet(S315). If the classified class is AF, the boundary router checks whether there is a space in the AF buffer(S317). If there is a space in the AF buffer, the boundary router assigns the AF packet(S318), and if there is no space in the AF buffer, the boundary router checks whether there is a space in the DE buffer(S319). If the DE buffer is full, the boundary router discards the corresponding packet(S320). If there is a space in the DE buffer, the boundary router assigns a portion of the DE buffer to the AF class(S322,S323), and transmits the EF packet(S333).
