Abstract: A method for providing a sleep mode and a mobile station thereof are provided to efficiently manage a sleep mode operation in a broadband wireless access system serving downlink traffic. A mobile terminal which is connected to abase station(200) of a mobile communication network through a wireless link to transmit/receive data, and provides a sleep mode comprise the followings: a power supply unit(120) providing power to the mobile terminal; a sleep mode managing unit(130) for managing the sleep mode, the sleep interval within the sleep mode and the listening interval; and a controller(110) controlling the power supply unit based on the first initial-sleep interval of the sleep mode managing unit. The sleep mode managing unit sets the first initial-sleep interval period corresponding to previous integration sleep mode periods pre-stored based on whether the first data of downlink is received from the base station or not.
Abstract translation: 提供一种用于提供睡眠模式的方法及其移动站，以有效地管理服务于下行业务的宽带无线接入系统中的睡眠模式操作。 通过无线链路连接到移动通信网络的基站（200）以发送/接收数据并提供睡眠模式的移动终端包括：向移动终端提供电力的电源单元（120）; 睡眠模式管理单元，用于管理睡眠模式，睡眠模式下的睡眠间隔和收听间隔; 以及基于睡眠模式管理单元的第一初始睡眠间隔来控制电源单元的控制器（110）。 睡眠模式管理单元基于是否从基站接收到下行链路的第一数据来设置与预先存储的先前积分睡眠模式周期对应的第一初始睡眠间隔周期。

Abstract: 본 발명은 수면 모드를 제공하는 방법과 이를 위한 이동 단말기에 관한 것이다.
본 발명의 수면 모드를 제공하는 이동 단말기는, 기 저장되어 있는 이전 통합 수면 모드 기간들－여기서, 통합 수면 모드 기간은 초기 수면 주기 기간부터 상기 기지국의 하향 링크 데이터를 수신한 청취 주기 동작 이전까지의 기간임.－에 대응하여 제1 초기 수면 주기 기간을 결정하고, 결정된 제1 초기 수면 주기 기간을 상기 기지국으로 알리는 메시지를 전송한다. 그리고, 기지국으로부터 상기 메시지에 대응되는 응답을 수신하면, 결정된 제1 초기 수면 주기 기간에 기초하여 기지국으로부터 하향 링크의 제1 데이터를 수신하기 전까지 수면 주기(Sleep Interval) 및 청취 주기(Listening Interval)를 반복 동작한다.
이러한 본 발명에 따르면, 수면 모드 동작을 효율적으로 관리하여 이동 단말기의 전력 절약 효과를 높일 수 있는 효과를 기대할 수 있다.
