Abstract: An ultra low power pulse generator for a multiband an IR-UWB and a method thereof are provided to supply a simple switching function between sub-bands by changing an oscillation frequency. An ultra low power pulse generator for a multiband an IR-UWB includes an oscillation unit(510), a switch unit(520), a micro adjusting unit(517), a power unit(540), a control unit(530), and a sub-band generation unit(513). The oscillation unit generates and outputs a sine wave. The switch unit activates or deactivates the oscillation unit in response to an input control signal. The micro adjusting unit adjusts a frequency of the sine wave. The power unit supplies a current. The control unit receives the current, supplies or breaks the received current to the oscillation unit, the switch unit and the adjusting unit in response to an inverse control signal. The sub-band generation unit is composed of at least one capacitance element, and selects and transmits a corresponding oscillation frequency the oscillation unit.
