Abstract: A context-aware naming system and a method thereof are provided to enable a context-aware application to use a desired service continuously even though context or an administrative domain is changed, and offer a name structure effectively expressing the service desired from the application by using various contexts as well as location information of the service. A name server(200) generates a name object(220) having the context of the desired service by a request of the application(100), searches service objects(300) corresponding to a change of the context among the service objects by tracing context change of the generated name object, and connects the searched service object to the name object. The application uses the desired service continuously with the name object even though the context is changed. The name server includes a name object managing module(210), a context tracing service module(230) informing the name object of the context change by tracing the context change according to a request of the name object generated in the name object managing module, and a service directory module(240) searching/connecting the service object corresponding to the context change to the name object.
