    Abstract: A method for processing handover in a bridge-based RAS(Radio Access Station) backbone network is provided to easily and simply manage a RAS backbone network using a 2-layer ethernet bridge, to efficiently and speedily process handover, and to improve the efficiency of the RAS backbone network. Receiving a disconnection report message, based on handover, from an MN(Mobile Node), an existing SCB(Site Core Bridge) directs SCBs, located at the end of an existing MAC-in-MAC tunnel, to delete tunnel information and associated MN information(0,1). Afterwards, the existing SCB informs an HLR that the MN has initiated handover, and the HLR changes the operation state of the MN from "active" to "handover"(2). The MN moves to a new BSB(Base Station Bridge)(3). Meanwhile, the fourth SCB discards a frame received on the move of the MN as information about the MN has been already deleted(4). In this case, the fourth SCB discards the frame while querying the HLR about the location information of the MN(5). If the movement to the new BSB is completed, the MN executes registration procedures. At this moment, the MN transmits a route update message, including its own MAC address and IP address, to the new BSB so that it can be forwarded to a new SCB.

    Abstract: A bridge-based RAS(Radio Access Station) backbone network system and a method for processing signals therein are provided to prevent a loss of on-the-fly frames in a soft handover by constructing a RAS backbone network using a 2-layer Ethernet bridge. If the first MN(Mobile Node)(MN1) in the first site completes handover as the first MN moves to the third site and forms a link with a BSB(Base Station Bridge)(22) in the third site, the first MN generates a handover complete signal. The handover complete signal is transmitted to the fourth SCB(Site Core Bridge)(23-4) through the third SCB(23-3). In this case, the fourth SCB(23-4), which is a crossover bridge, receives the handover complete signal, buffering frames 0 through 2. Then the fourth SCB(23-4) retransmits the frames to the third SCB(23-3). At this moment, even though frame #2, which is an on-the-fly MAC frame, is missing, the second MN(MN2) can receive frame #2 as frames 0 through 2, which are retransmitted, are received.

    Abstract: A bridge-based radio access station backbone network system and a signal processing method thereof are provided to simplify network management, to make it possible to perform efficient and rapid handover and to enhance network efficiency. A bridge-based radio access station backbone network system comprises plural BSBs(Base Station Bridges)(22), plural SCBs(Site Core Bridges)(23-1-23-4) and an HLR(Home Location Register)(24). The BSBs(22) composed of two layered switches are connected to plural radio base stations. The plural SCBs(23-1-23-4) also composed of two layered switches are connected to a part of the plural BSBs(22), transmits frames between each other by an MAC(Media Access Control)-in-MAC scheme and forms a core network among bridges forming a network. The HLR(24) stores an IP address and an MAC address of a terminal within a network, and an address of an SCB to which a corresponding terminal is affiliated. Each of the SCBs(23-1-24-1) fixedly gets an MAC address of an external default router for relaying egress frames, fixedly preregisters an individual MAC address of its own at other SCB existing at the core network, and transmits frames to an address of an SCB to which a corresponding terminal is affiliated or an address of the external default router by checking a destination terminal with which a terminal within its site requests to communicate via the HLR(24).
