Abstract: 2,3-Dialkoxy-4-pyridinol derivatives of formula (I) are new. In (I), R1,R2, R3=C1-3 lower alkyl; R4= arylalkyl, alkylarylalkyl, alkoxyarylalkyl, aryloxyalkyl which may be substd. hydroxy and (or) thiol. Cpd. (I) were prepd by the reaction of comp. (II) with compd. R4X in the presence of anhydrous polar solvent (e.g., tetrahydrofuran, dimethyl formamide, hexamethyl phostriamide) at room temp. The compd. (II) was also prepd., where R1,R2,R3 are methyl groups. Cpd. (I) has insecticidal activity.
