Abstract: PURPOSE: A beta-sitosterol compound or a composition containing Dipsacus plant extract is provided to prevent various plant diseases without environmental pollution. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing rice sheath blight or gray mold contains 50 ug/mL-500ug/mL of beta-sitosterol of chemical formula 1 or 10 ug/Ml-3,000 ug/mL of Dipsacus plant extract as an active ingredient. The Dipsacus plants are Dipsacus asperoides or Dipsacus japonicus. A composition containing beta-sitosterol of chemical formula 1 is used for preventing rice sheath blight or gray mold by treating to crops or soil.
