Abstract: A spring motor and a drag brake for driving for coverings of architectural openings are provided to attach the drag brake to a storage spool of the spring motor and attach a housing to an output spool of the spring motor. A drag brake combination(102) includes a motor output spool(122), a motor spring, and a brake. The output spool rotates counterclockwise or clockwise. The motor spring includes first and second ends fixed to the output spool. The motor spring performs a self winding operation. The brake includes a brake drum(146), a coil spring assembly(126), and a housing(130). The brake drum is connected to the output spool such that the rotation of the output spool causes the rotation of the brake drum. The coil spring assembly is mounted on the brake drum. The coil spring assembly causes the rotation of the brake drum about the housing counterclockwise or clockwise.
