    Abstract: A dental model includes a model dental arch and a plurality of model teeth. The model dental arch includes a first member including a plurality of first openings therethrough, and a second member including a plurality of second openings extending therethrough. The plurality of first openings of the first member and the plurality of second openings of the second member are aligned to each other in a one-to-one correspondence. Each model tooth from the plurality of model teeth includes a tooth portion and a connecting portion extending from the tooth portion. The tooth portion of each model tooth is at least partially and slidably received in a respective first opening from the plurality of first openings. The connecting portion of each model tooth is at least partially received in a respective second opening from the plurality of second openings and detachably retained in the respective second opening.

    Abstract: In some examples, a tool (10) for forming a dental restoration comprises a preformed mold body (12) configured to provide a patient-specific, customized fit with at least one tooth to be restored of a patient. The mold body is configured to align with a portion of a surface of the at least one tooth, and is configured to combine with the at least one tooth to define a mold cavity encompassing at least a portion of desired tooth structure of the at least one tooth to be restored of the patient. The portion of desired tooth structure defines a transition from a supragingival surface of the at least one tooth to a subgingival surface of the at least one tooth. The mold body (12) defines subgingival portions (32a, 32b) configured to contact said subgingival surface of one tooth to concentrate sealing pressure at at least a portion of a perimeter (38) of mold cavity.

    Abstract: A custom tool for forming a dental restoration in a mouth of a patient, the custom tool comprising: a first mold body providing for a customized fit with at least three teeth of the patient, wherein the first mold body includes a first portion corresponding with at least a first surface of a first tooth and a first interproximal portion corresponding with a first interproximal surface of the first tooth and a second interproximal portion corresponding with the second interproximal surface of the first tooth, wherein the first interproximal portion and the second interproximal portion of the first tooth of the first mold body each have a patient-specific digitally engineered interproximal portion, wherein the first interproximal portion and the second interproximal portion of the second tooth of the first mold body each have a patient-specific digitally engineered interproximal portion, and wherein the first interproximal portion and the second interproximal portion of the second tooth of the first mold body each have a patient-specific digitally engineered interproximal portion, wherein the first mold body is configured to combine with the three teeth of the patient to form a portion of a mold cavity encompassing a portion of missing tooth structure of the three teeth, and wherein a first portion of the missing tooth structure includes missing interproximal tooth structure of the first interproximal surface of the first tooth and the second interproximal surface of the first tooth.

    Abstract: An example removable dental appliance includes an appliance body configured to at least partially surround a plurality of teeth of a dental arch of a patient. The appliance body includes a shell shaped to engage a tooth in an initial position and a gingival ridge extending from a mesial interproximal region along a gingival edge of the shell to a distal interproximal region. The gingival ridge is configured to engage a lingual or labial surface of the tooth below a height of contour of the tooth to enable the appliance body to apply a force vector at a contact point on the tooth to cause movement of the tooth toward a desired position of the tooth when the removable dental appliance is worn by the patient.
