Abstract:
A conformable barrier sheet comprising a polymeric film having a tensile elongation at least 2 fold greater than a polyethylene terephthalate film of equal dimensions and under an equal load; a planarization layer; and a plasma-deposited amorphous glass layer comprising silicon, carbon, and hydrogen; wherein the planarization layer is disposed on the polymeric film, the amorphous glass layer is deposited on the planarization layer, and wherein the barrier sheet is sufficiently conformable that after undergoing a tensile elongation within the range of more than 2 % to 20 %, the barrier sheet has a moisture vapor transmission rate essentially unchanged compared with prior to being elongated, a method of making the conformable barrier sheet, a transdermal device comprising the conformable barrier sheet, a method of delivering a drug to a mammal using the device, and a method of protecting an article using the conformable barrier sheet are provided.
Abstract:
Fluorosilicone containing release liners for transdermal drug delivery systems, such as transdermal patches, transdermal drug delivery systems containing such release liners, and methods of delivering active pharmaceutical ingredients using the same.
Abstract:
An adhesive article comprising a poly(meth)acrylate-based primer layer and methods of making same. The article can include a backing, a primer layer located on a first major surface of the backing, and a silicone-based adhesive located on the primer layer. The primer layer can be derived from a primer precursor comprising poly(meth)acrylate functionalities. The method can include applying a primer precursor onto a first major surface of a backing, the primer precursor comprising a compound comprising poly(meth)acrylate functionalities; irradiating the primer precursor; applying an adhesive on the irradiated primer precursor; and irradiating the adhesive and the irradiated primer precursor to form a primer layer located between the adhesive and the first major surface of the backing.
Abstract:
A discontinuous hydrocolloid article is disclosed that provides for a high rate of water absorption and a high rate of water vapor transmission. Also, disclosed is a method of making a discontinuous hydrocolloid article. In one embodiment, the discontinuous hydrocolloid article comprises a plurality of cross-linked polymer strands comprising a hydrophobic polymer and a hydrocolloid dispersed throughout the hydrophobic polymer and a plurality of joining strands. Each polymer strand repeatedly contacts an adjacent joining strand at bond regions.
