Abstract: A cyclic siloxane compound, composition, method, and an article including the siloxane, wherein the cyclic siloxane has the following Formula (I): wherein: each R1 and R2 is independently a (C1-C4)alkyl; each L1 and L2 is independently a single bond, an alkylene, or an alkylene bonded to a group selected from oxy, thio, carbonyl, —NH—, and combinations thereof; each R3 is independently a linear (C14-C100)alkyl; each R4 is independently a (C1-C30)alkyl, a (C2-C30)heteroalkyl having at least one oxygen, sulfur, or —NH— group, or a (C1-C30)alkyl substituted with a fluoro, thiol, isocyanato, cyanato, hydroxyl, glycidoxy, or epoxy group; with the proviso that L1, L2, and R4 are selected such that each Si atom is directly bonded to an alkylene or an alkyl; m is an integer of at least 2; n is an integer of 0 or above; m+n is an integer of at least 3; and the cyclic siloxane compound is a solid at 25° C.

Abstract: A fluorine-free composition includes at least one polycarbodiimide compound derived from a carbodiimidization reaction of a carbodiimidization reaction mixture comprising at least one oligomer, wherein the oligomer comprises at least one isocyanate end group and at least two repeating units, wherein each of the at least two repeating units comprises at least one hydrocarbon group having at least 16 carbon atoms. The composition may also include at least one paraffin wax. Such compositions are useful for treating fibrous substrates to enhance their water-repellency.

Abstract: Crosslinked (meth)acrylate-based pressure sensitive adhesives are capable of attachment to mammalian skin for at least 10 days. The crosslinked adhesive composition includes a crosslinked (meth)acrylate-based copolymer free from polar groups, and a hydrogenated hydrocarbon tackifier resin. The crosslinked adhesive composition is prepared by photocrosslinking a hot melt processable blend of a (meth)acrylate copolymer and a hydrogenated hydrocarbon tackifier resin. The (meth)acrylate copolymer is the reaction product of an alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer with alkyl groups of 4-22 carbon atoms and are free of polar groups, and a copolymerizable photocrosslinker.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an aqueous dispersion. The aqueous dispersion includes a) water; b) a surfactant having at least one ethylenically unsaturated group; and c) polyester particles dispersed in the water. The polyester particles include a water-insoluble polyester having a weight average molecular weight of 20 kiloDaltons or greater, and the polyester particles have an average diameter that is submicron in size. Further, the present disclosure provides a method of making the aqueous dispersion. The method includes a) dissolving a water-insoluble polyester in a water-immiscible solvent to form a polyester solution; b) combining the polyester solution with an aqueous solution including water and a surfactant; and c) removing at least a portion of the water-immiscible solvent to form the aqueous dispersion including polyester particles dispersed in the water. The present disclosure also provides a photopolymerizable composition including a) water; b) a surfactant; c) polyester particles dispersed in the water; d) a photoinitiator; e) at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer dispersed in the water; and f) an optional polymerization inhibitor. The present disclosure also provides coatings and articles prepared from the aqueous dispersion or photopolymerizable composition.

Abstract: A fluorine-free composition includes one or more compounds derived from a reaction mixture that includes: (i) at least one isocyanate-reactive (i.e., functionalized) oligomer comprising 2 to 20 repeating units; (ii) at least one polyisocyanate; (iii) optionally at least one additional isocyanate-reactive compound; and (iv) optionally at least one isocyanate blocking agent; wherein the isocyanate-reactive oligomer is made by the radical-initiated reaction of a reaction mixture comprising at least one mercaptan and Sat least one (meth)acrylate monomer, wherein the at least one (meth)acrylate monomer comprises at least one isocyanate-derived group (e.g., a urethane group or a urea group) and at least one hydrocarbon group having at least 16 carbon atoms (and in some embodiments, up to 60 carbon atoms). Such compositions are useful for treating fibrous substrates to enhance their water-repellency.
