Abstract:
An electrical insulating material is described herein. The electrical insulating material comprises an insulating core layer and at least one cured epoxy layer coated on a first major surface of the insulating core layer. In some aspects, the exemplary electrical insulating material can further include a second cured epoxy layer coated on a second major surface of the insulating core layer.
Abstract:
In general, a system configured to monitor one or more conditions of an electric powerline having one or more electrical cables includes at least one primary node operatively coupled to at least one electrical cable of the one or more electrical cables and communicatively coupled to a central computing system; and at least one secondary node operatively coupled to at least one electrical cable of the one or more electrical cables and configured to communicate data via powerline communication to the at least one primary' node, wherein the at least one primary node is configured to deliver the data to the central computing system.
Abstract:
An electrical connector includes an electrically insulative cylindrical housing, an electrically conductive member retained within the cylindrical housing, and at least one biasing member biased toward a surface of the conductive member. The conductive member defines a longitudinal axis and the biasing member(s) is/are circumferentially disposed about the longitudinal axis of the conductive member. Conductors inserted into the cylindrical housing are urged into electrical contact with the conductive member by the biasing member(s).
Abstract:
This disclosure describes co-extruded multilayer articles including at least one continuous layer and one discontinuous layer, as well as systems and techniques for the manufacture of co-extruded multilayer articles. For example, a co-extruded multilayer article is described that includes a body having a plurality of layers, where a first layer of the plurality of layers is formed from a first material and is continuous along a longitudinal axis of the body, and a second layer of the plurality of layers is formed from a second material and is discontinuously co-extruded along the longitudinal axis.
Abstract:
A device to measure the voltage at a test point, also referred to as a test point voltage sensor, comprises a housing formed from a first material and a second material, wherein the first material comprises an insulating material and the second material comprises a conductive or semiconductive material. The housing includes an opening configured to cover a test point of a cable accessory. The device further includes a pressure pad, disposed in the housing, having a conductive mating surface configured to contact a test point of the basic insulation plug or end plug. The device further includes a low side capacitor embedded in the housing and electrically coupled to the conductive mating surface. The device further includes a signal wire electrically coupled to the low side capacitor.
Abstract:
A terminal connection device comprises a contiguous body disposed onto an inner conductor. The inner conductor includes a first end mateable with a power cable connector and a second end. The body comprises a multilayer structure having an inner conductive or semiconductive layer disposed over at least a portion of the power cable connector, an insulating layer and an outer conductive or semiconductive layer. The body surrounds the first end of the inner conductor and extending towards the second end of the inner conductor. The body can also include an electrically isolated section of conductive or semiconductive material. The terminal connection device can be a fully integrated structure, having a pre-installed connection interface, or the terminal connection device can be configured as an adapter which can be mounted in the field to a connection interface.
Abstract:
Provided is a system for directly sensing, measuring, or monitoring the temperature of an electrical conductor (31) of a power cable (10). A temperature sensitive capacitor (21C) is disposed in direct thermal contact with the electrical conductor (31). The temperature sensitive capacitor (21C) includes a dielectric material that has a dielectric constant variable with the temperature of the electrical conductor (31). The temperature of the electrical conductor (31) can be sensed, measured, or monitored by measuring the capacitance of the temperature sensitive capacitor (21C).
Abstract:
An article comprises an inorganic filler, fully hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol fibers, a polymer binder, and high surface area fibers. The article can be formed as an electrically insulating paper for electrical equipment, such as a liquid filled transformer, which can thereby be substantially cellulose free.
Abstract:
The inventors of the present disclosure recognized that elimination or reduction of the silver paste and/or silver busbars on the front and/or rear surfaces of solar cells and solar modules would advantageously lower the total cost of the solar cell and/or solar module. The inventors of the present disclosure recognized that the silver paste on the front and rear surface of solar cells or solar modules can be eliminated or the amount of silver paste reduced by replacing the silver busbars with a solderable tape including a conductive metal foil and a nonconductive adhesive.
