Abstract:
An exposed-lens retroreflective article including a binder layer and a plurality of retroreflective elements. Each retroreflective element includes a transparent microsphere partially embedded in the binder layer. At least some of the retroreflective elements comprise a reflective layer disposed between the transparent microsphere and the binder layer and at least one localized color layer that is embedded between the transparent microsphere and the reflective layer.
Abstract:
Optical articles including a spatially defined arrangement of a plurality of data rich retroreflective elements, wherein the plurality of retroreflective elements comprise retroreflective elements having at least two different retroreflective properties and at least two different optical contrasts with respect to a background substrate when observed within an ultraviolet spectrum, a visible spectrum, a near-infrared spectrum, or a combination thereof.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates generally to radar retroreflective articles comprising one or more dielectric layers adjacent to a reflective layer, wherein the dielectric layer or layers aids in increasing the radar cross section of the radar retroreflective articles.
Abstract:
RETROREFLECTIVE COLORED ARTICLES Provided herein are retroreflective colored article having a predetermined pattern of beaded and unbeaded regions and at least one polymeric color layer (130) covering at least a portion of the beaded and unbeaded regions, a reflector layer (140) covering the colour layer, and a carrier (150). Also disclosed are methods for making the articles.
Abstract:
An exposed lens retroreflective article (100), transfer articles comprising same, and methods of making same. The retroreflective article can include a binder layer (114); a layer of transparent microspheres (108) partially embedded in the binder layer; and reflective layer (110) disposed between the binder layer and the microspheres. The reflective layer (110) can include a dielectric mirror, which can include a first stack (115) and a second stack (111) positioned in planar contact with the first stack, wherein each of the first stack and the second stack comprises at least one bilayer (119), wherein each bilayer comprises a first material with a first bonding group and a second material with a complementary second bonding group. The transfer article can include the retroreflective article and a carrier web. The method can include partially embedding transparent microspheres in a carrier web; applying the reflective layer to the microspheres, and applying a binder layer composition to the reflective layer.
Abstract:
A breathable, high-visibility garment comprising an apertured fabric and a non-occlusive, unsupported, retroreflective laminate that is adhesively bonded to an outer major surface of at least one region of the apertured fabric.
Abstract:
The present disclosure includes in one instance an optical article comprising a data rich plurality of retroreflective elements that are configured in a spatially defined arrangement, where the plurality of retroreflective elements comprise retroreflective elements having at least two different retroreflective properties, and where data rich means information that is readily machine interpretable. The present disclosure also includes a system comprising the previously mentioned optical article, an optical system, and an inference engine for interpreting and classifying the plurality of retroreflective elements wherein the optical system feeds data to the inference engine.
Abstract:
Retroreflective articles include a layer of optical elements, and a bead bond layer (140). The optical elements include transparent microspheres (110), a transparent polymeric polyurethane layer (120), and at least one reflective layer (130), where the transparent polymeric polyurethane layer (120) comprises a dried layer prepared from an aqueous polyurethane dispersion. The retroreflective articles have improved wash durability.

Abstract:
Retroreflecting articles are described. In particular, retroreflecting articles including a quarter wave retarder and a retroreflecting layer are described. The retarder is rotationally invariant and the retroreflecting layer is non-depolarizing. Such articles may be useful for sensor-detectable signs, labels, and garments.
