Abstract: Electret webs include a thermoplastic resin and a charge-enhancing additive. The charge-enhancing additive is a substituted-benzoic acid or a substituted-benzoate salt. The benzoic acid and benzoate salts are substituted by a hydroxyl or amino group at the ortho position or 1 position of the benzene ring. The benzene ring may contain additional substituent groups. The substituted-benzoate salt may have a monovalent, divalent, or trivalent metal counteraction.

Abstract: A setting selection system for a personal protective equipment device is presented. The system includes an indicia retriever that retrieves a set of indications relevant to the personal protective equipment device. The system also includes a setting analyzer that analyzes a current setting for a device function. The system also includes a setting selector that selects a new setting for the device function based on the retrieved indication. The setting selector automatically adjusts the device function from the current setting to the new setting. The system also includes a setting change recorder that records the change from the current setting to the new setting.

Abstract: There is provided a computing device comprising: at least one processor; and a memory comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to: receive data indicative of a gas characteristic in a sealed space formed by a face of the wearer and a negative pressure reusable respirator; determine performance of a respirator seal check by the wearer; determine that the negative pressure reusable respirator is being worn by a wearer; perform one or more actions in response to determining that the respirator is being worn by the wearer and the wearer has not performed a respirator seal check that satisfies one or more safety rules; and alter the one or more actions in response to determining that the negative pressure reusable respirator is being worn by the wearer and the wearer has performed a respirator seal check that satisfies one or more safety rules. There is also provided a system using such computing device.

Abstract: A device and a system for monitoring usage of a respirator, and a method of monitoring the respirator are disclosed. The device includes one or more sensors and a computing unit. The one or more sensors generate sensor data during use of the respirator. The sensor data is indicative of one or more parameters associated with the respirator. The computing unit is communicably coupled to the one or more sensors. The computing unit includes a first processor, a first memory communicably coupled to the first processor, and a first communication module communicably coupled to the first processor. The first memory includes at least a first instruction that, when executed by the first processor, causes the first communication module to transmit the sensor data to an external computing device during the use of the respirator.
