Abstract: Aparato (10) para interrumpir el flujo de corriente en un sistema de suministro de potencia, estando adaptado dicho aparato para uso con una caja conteniendo fluido aislante, incluyendo dicho aparato: una caja (18, 20); un interruptor (16) que tiene extremos de entrada y salida eléctricas (16a, 16b) para interrumpir el flujo de corriente entre dichos extremos de entrada y salida (16a, 16b) en respuesta a accionamiento mecánico; un accionador (12) conectado mecánicamente a dicho interruptor (16) para proporcionar dicho accionamiento mecánico; una pestaña (28) formada a lo largo del exterior de dicha caja que tiene un lado de montaje adecuado para unión a dicha caja y un lado superior; caracterizado porque dicha caja (18, 20) se ha formado de material aislante y encapsula el interruptor (12) y por que la pestaña (28) está situada en dicha caja (18, 20) de modo que dicha caja (18, 20) se aleje de dicho lado de montaje y dicho lado superior; estando colocado dicho interruptor (16) en dicha caja (18, 20) de modo que una porción de dicho interruptor (16) esté dentro de la porción de dicha caja (18, 20) que se aleja de dicho lado de montaje, de manera que cuando dicha pestaña (28) esté unida a dicha caja, la porción de dicha caja (18, 20) que se aleja de dicho lado de montaje y dicha porción del interruptor (16) que está dentro de ella se extiendan al fluido aislante dentro de dicha caja.

Abstract: Apparatus (10) for interrupting the flow of current in a power distribution system is disclosed for use with an enclosure containing insulating fluid. The apparatus (10) includes a housing (20) formed from insulating material and having a mounting flange (28) formed along the exterior of the housing (20). The flange (28) is located so that the housing extends away from the mounting side and the upper side of the flange. An electrical current interrupter (16), having electrical input and output ends (16a, 16b), is positioned in the housing (20) so that a portion lies within the portion of the housing extending away from the flange mounting side. An actuator (12) is mechanically connected to the interrupter (16) to provide the mechanical actuation required to interrupt the current flow between the input and output ends of the interrupter. When the flange (28) is attached to the enclosure, the portion of the housing (20) extending away from the flange mounting side extends into the fluid within the enclosure.
