Abstract: A system and method for configuring devices on a device network in communication with a router on a control network. An unconfigured device installed on the network receives a poll at a predetermined address from a router. The router receives a response to the poll from the unconfigured device, and requests identification of devices having a range of device object IDs and stores the MAC addresses of responding devices and the device object IDs. The unconfigured device is configured to have the proposed MAC address and device object ID.
