Abstract: PURPOSE: To relatively delay the time when cold air exists than the time when hot air exists in cells and to efficiently cool a rotor by changing the position of an ignition device igniting the fuel-air mixture in the cells, and delaying the ignition timing. CONSTITUTION: A rotor 1 formed as a cell wheel is arranged between two side portions 4, 5 of the stator casing of a pressure wave machine. The rotor 1 is split into multiple cells 2 separated from each other by partition walls 3, and the cells 2 are rotated against both side portions 4, 5. Both side portions 4, 5 are provided with an inlet opening 6 of a fuel-air mixture, or an outlet opening 7 of a low-pressure hot gas and an outlet opening 8 of a high-pressure hot gas respectively. The fuel-air mixture in the cells 2 is ignited by an ignition device 9. The position of the ignition device 9 is changed to delay the ignition timing, i.e., the time when cold air exists in the cells 2 is relatively prolonged, thus the temperature of the rotor 1 can be reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To simply cool a rotor at a low cost without using a cooling compressor and an external cooling medium by providing cooling air conduits on a stator casing, and arranging cooling air passages in the rotor below and above cells. CONSTITUTION: A rotor 1 formed as a cell wheel is arranged between two side members 4, 5 of the stator casing of a pressure wave machine. The rotor 1 is split into multiple cells 2, and the cells 2 are partitioned by partition walls 15 respectively and are rotated against both side members 4, 5. Both side members 4, 5 are provided with an inlet port 8 of a fuel-air mixture, an outlet port 9 of a low-pressure hot gas, an outlet port 10 of a high-pressure hot gas, and an outlet port 11 of a heated cooling gas respectively. Cooling air conduits are formed on the stator casing, and cooling air passages 3 are arranged in the rotor 1 below and above the cells 2 as viewed in the radial direction, thereby the rotor 2 can be simply cooled at a low cost.
