The object of the invention is an arrangement in a synchronous machine, which synchronous machine contains n-phased winding (U,V,W) and has constantly operating magnetisation means. According to the invention, switching means have been fitted in a synchronous machine, by means of which the synchronous machine can be connected to the input source and disconnected from the input source, together with switching devices (K1,K2,K3) by means of which the phase winding (U,V,W) can be isolated from other phase windings and/or the input source and connected to other phase windings (U,V,W) and/or input source.

Method and system in connection with a motor operated tension measuring roll (1) for compensating an error in tension measuring of a continuous material web, the method comprising defining the tension T meas of a material web (4) by a force sensor (3) provided at the tension measuring roll. The method comprises defining the frictional couple T µ and moment of inertia J of the tension measuring roll before tension measuring during operation, defining a torque T mot generated by the driving motor of the tension measuring roll during operation, defining a torque T wm directed to the material web by the tension measuring roll by subtracting the frictional couple T µ and moment of inertia J from the defined torque T mot generated by the driving motor, defining a force F T directed to the material web on the basis of the torque T wm directed to the material web by the tension measuring roll, defining, on the basis of the force F T directed to the material web, a component of force F Tm of the measuring sensor in the measuring direction directed to the material web by the tension measuring roll, and subtracting from the tension T meas defined by the force sensor the component of force F Tm of the measuring sensor in the measuring direction directed to the material web by the tension measuring roll to provide a corrected measuring signal.

The arrangement has an alarm device activated before a part of machine i.e. paper machine, is started, where the alarm device includes a pair of sound sources and a pair of chains that controls one of the sound sources that is activated before starting the machine such that the alarm sounds from the sound sources are intermittent and include substantially solid continuous sound. The sound sources form a pair of horns (14, 16) installed substantially close to each other. A test button (26) activates the alarm device. An independent claim is also included for a method for generating a start-up alarm in an industrial facility where a machine is started from a separate location.
