Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the structure and the usage of a three-point converter. SOLUTION: This three-point converter is provided with a decoupling network 1 in which the first input of a decoupling network is connected to the positive pole of an intermediate circuit, the first output is connected to the negative pole of the three-point converter and is used for an upper-half bridge, and a decoupling network 2 in which the second input of the decoupling network is connected to the negative pole of the intermediate circuit, the second output of the decoupling network is connected to the negative pole of the three-point converter for a lower-half bridge. The remaining inputs of the decoupling networks 1, 2 are connected to the center tap 3 of the intermediate circuit, the remaining outputs of the decoupling networks 1, 2 are connected to the half of the bridge through an NPC diode, and commutating voltage in the main switches T11,..., T34 of the upper and lower halves of respective bridges are separated from the one of the decoupling networks 1, 2 to be decoupled from 1/2(Vdc) of intermediate circuit voltage.

Abstract: An open-loop and closed-loop control method is proposed for a single-phase or polyphase three-point converter which is connected to a DC voltage intermediate circuit, having two series-connected main switches/inverse diodes between each DC voltage connection and each load connection. The common junction point of the two inner main switches forms the load connection. An active clamped switch with an inverse diode is connected between each common junction point of an inner main switch and an outer main switch and the center tap of the DC voltage intermediate circuit. As a result of which, two possible paths are formed for connecting a load connection to the center tap. Irrespective of the direction of the load current, at least one of the two active clamped switches (T5, T6) is connected to the center tap together with at least one inner main switch for connection of a load connection. The provides a circuit that can carry the current deliberately through the upper path, the lower path, or through both paths, to the center tap during a null state.

Abstract: The invention relates to a controlling and regulating method for a single-phase or multi-phase three-level power converter, which is connected to a direct current link and which comprises two series-connected main switches (T1, T2, T3, T4)/inverse diodes (D1, D2, D3, D4) between each direct current connection and each load connection. The shared connection point of both internal main switches (T2, T3) form the load connection, and an active clamping switch (T5, T6) with an inverse diode (D5, D6) is located between each shared connection point of an internal main switch (T2, T3) with an external main switch (T1, T4) and the center tapping of the direct current link, whereby forming two possible paths for connecting a load connection to the center tapping. Independent of the direction of the load current, at least one of both active clamping switches (T5, T6), together with at least one internal main switch (T2, T3) for connecting a load connection to the center tapping, is switched on in order to guide the current in a directed manner through the upper, the lower or through both paths of the center tapping during a zero state.
