Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing glass-like carbon, according to which a film or plate made of polycarbonate is cross-linked by a pre-treatment and is subsequently pyrolyzed in an inert atmosphere or in a vacuum. The pre-treatment can be, for example, a tempering of the film in an oxidizing or reducing atmosphere at a temperature ranging from 200 DEG C to 600 DEG C or can be an irradiation of the body or can be induced by additives in the polycarbonate resin.
