Abstract: The impeller has a circular cover disc(2) with openings(10) for holding connecting lugs(6) which connect the cover disc and impeller blades(5). An Independent claim is made for a process for manufacturing the impeller in which connectors(6) projecting from the blades(5) are inserted into the openings(10) in the cover disc(2) and a head formed with a heated riveting tool.

Abstract: Ribs(2) are provided on the hub(1) of the compressor wheel and form-fit into the lower section of the blades, forming a mechanical connection. The hub and blades are made from a plastic, and preferably from a material reinforced by endless fibres. The blades may be constructed in two sections. An additional key may be provided in the region between the ribs and blades. The ribs on the hub may be made of fibre-reinforced plastic or metal. An adhesive may be used as an additional fastening between the hub and blades, or the join may be reinforced by welding.
