Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current-limiting resistor having PTC characteristics which can be manufactured simply and at a low cost and which exhibits a large current-carrying capacity, a wide range of voltage and a high reliability of operation. SOLUTION: A current-limiting resistor is provided with two connecting electrodes 1 and 2 which are placed in parallel to each other and a resistor 3 having PTC characteristics which is in contact with the connecting electrodes 1 and 2 on its flat surface. A varistor 40 is conductively in contact with the resistor 3. The resistor 3 includes first two contact surfaces 50 and 51 and a first answering part 60. The answering part is connected in parallel to the first varistor 40 through the two contact surfaces 50 and 51 and carries out a PTC shift above the threshold of the current passing in the resistor.
