The transformer box is wholly filled with transformer oil. The polar character in the insulating material in the conductor insulations, insulating cylinder, intermediate layers and other fibre-based insulations in the transformer are reduced by means of a treatment whereby all polar charged or weak bindings in the insulation surface layer have been modified.
