    Abstract: The chamber has a heating volume (6) for accommodating compressed quenching gas from an arc zone (8), where a part of a wall of the heating volume is formed by a differential piston (9). The piston has a piston step forming a working face (A2) that acts in an expansion space (12) and another working face (A1) that acts in a storage space (13) filled with insulating gas. A channel, which connects the heating volume to the storage space, is guided through the piston, where the channel is opened if the insulating gas pressure (p2) is greater than the quenching gas pressure (p1).
