    Abstract: The resistor (1) has an electric resistor body (5) arranged between two contact terminals. The resistor body (5) is made of a connector material with a polymer matrix and an electrically conductive filler embedded in the matrix. The filer is in the form of a powder with particles whose average diameter is greater than 1 micron, preferably greater than 10 microns. The filler is a material which is harder and more resistant to oxidation than soot or silver. The resistor (1) is esp. used in a device for limiting and/or switching current. The resistor (1) is associated with a deforming arrangement (4) to elastically deform its resistor body (5). Upon a trigger signal (6) during operation of the device, the deforming arrangement (4) elastically changes the shape of the resistor body (5).
