Abstract: The invention is concerned with a binary voltage indicator for use with high- or medium voltage equipment. The indicator comprises a photoactive layer (5) which changes its reflectivity or emissivity when subjected to an electric field and which is applied directly onto the surface of a conductor. The photoactive layer is based on materials as used for low-voltage displays, such as electrophoretic films.
