Abstract: A method for reducing inrush current to an ungrounded capacitor bank when re-closing a switching device. The method includes opening the switching device, including breaking the current of a first phase of the three phases, and after a predetermined opening time period simultaneously breaking the currents of a second phase and a third phase of the three phases. The method also includes re-closing the switching device, including simultaneously making the respective currents of the second and third phases, and after a predetermined closing time period making the current of the first phase.
