Abstract: A programmable logic controller for at least one field device in an industrial facility includes: a hardware platform on which an operating system runs, the operating system executing, in at least one process, at least one execution environment in which a control software containing the control logic of the programmable logic controller is runnable, the hardware platform including a main memory, a processor power, and communication resources; and a higher-level management system for running directly on the operating system and executing one or more execution environments in each case in its own sandbox, the management system including a resource manager for allocating to each sandbox access to the main memory, the processor power, and the communication resources of the hardware platform.

Abstract: A system and method for energy harvesting in a data center has one or more collection devices, a thermoelectric device, and a controller for directing the operation of the thermoelectric device and other equipment in the data center. The waste heat generated by the servers in the data center is harnessed and directed into the thermoelectric device where the waste heat is converted to usable electrical energy under the direction of the controller. The recycled electrical energy is then combined with utility-input power and provided to the servers and other equipment in the data center for consumption.

Abstract: A platform for actuation of at least one industrial field device in an industrial installation having control software includes: an execution environment, in which the control software is runnable; and an external interface for communicating between the control software and the at least one industrial field device. The execution environment has virtual hardware which, from a point of view of the control software, behaves in a manner of the at least one industrial field device. A switching unit is connected between the virtual hardware and the external interface. The switching unit bidirectionally translates data, interchanged between the control software and the virtual hardware, for communication with the at least one industrial field device via the external interface.

Abstract: Technologies for decentralized fleet analytics are disclosed. In at least one embodiment, a local cloud service at a plant site builds a first machine learning model of one or more first streams of data associated with the plant site. The local cloud service sends the first machine learning model to a cloud service connected to the plant site and other plant sites. The local cloud service receives a second machine learning model from the cloud service. The second machine learning model is trained as a function of the first machine learning model and one or more machine learning models built by the other plant sites. The local cloud service updates the first machine learning model based on the second machine learning model.

Abstract: A system and method for monitoring operating conditions of an industrial installation system including a plurality of pieces of equipment. Each of the pieces of equipment includes a sensor and an electrically identifiable tag configured to identify the equipment. The sensors of each of the plurality of pieces of equipment provide an operating characteristic of the piece of equipment that is provided to an industrial equipment management system. The system is also configured to store the content of the electrically identifiable tag and to store a location identifier of each of plurality of pieces of equipment. Replacement of the identified defective equipment is made with replacement equipment having an identifier that uniquely identifies the replacement device and the location of the replacement device in the industrial installation system.
