A second layer (140) has a conductor (145) in contact with at least one of the plurality of spacers on a second side of each spacer that opposes the first side. The first and second layers are covered by resin (110).

The invention is directed to a transformer and a method of manufacturing the same, wherein the transformer includes a coil assembly mounted to a leg of a core. The coil assembly includes a low voltage coil and an insulation spool disposed over the low voltage coil. The insulation spool is composed of an insulating material and includes a plurality of guide strips defining a plurality of series of aligned notches. A high voltage coil is mounted to the insulation spool and includes a plurality of disc windings disposed in the series of aligned notches, respectively. Each of the disc windings comprises alternating concentric conductor layers and insulating layers. The conductor layers each have a width to thickness ratio of greater than 20:1.

The present invention is directed to a method of making a transformer having a stacked core, which includes top and bottom yokes and first and second outer legs. The core also includes an inner leg that is formed from a pair of stacked plates, which abut each along a seam that extends in the longitudinal direction of the inner leg. Each of the upper and lower yokes may be formed from a single stack of plates, or a plurality of stacks of plates. Each of the inner and outer legs may also be formed from a single stack of plates, or a plurality of stacks of plates. The cross-section of the core may be rectangular or cruciform.

A transformer enclosure includes a base structure, a wall secured to the base structure, and an airflow aperture located in a lower portion of the wall. A roof structure is secured to the wall and has an overhang portion extending beyond the wall outward from the enclosure. The overhang portion has a roof top panel and a roof bottom panel. The roof bottom panel has a roof airflow aperture. The transformer enclosure can include means for enclosing a volume and airflow means for cooling a transformer within the enclosed volume, where the airflow means includes a plurality of opposing channels.

La presente invención se refiere a un transformador y un método para manufacturar el mismo, en donde el transformador incluye un montaje de chapa montado a un soporte de un núcleo. El montaje de chapa incluye una chapa de bajo voltaje y una bobina de aislamiento colocada sobre la chapa de bajo voltaje. La bobina de aislamiento está compuesta de un material aislante e incluye una pluralidad de tiras guía que definen una pluralidad de series de muescas alineadas. Una chapa de alto voltaje es montada a la bobina de aislamiento e incluye una pluralidad de devanados en disco colocados en la serie de muescas alineadas, respectivamente. Cada uno de los devanados en disco comprende capas aislantes y capas conductoras concéntricas alternadas. Las capas conductoras tienen una relación de anchura a espesor de más de 20:1.
