Abstract: A sample container holder (18) is provided for gripping a sample container (34) which contains a sample. The sample container holder (18) comprises a body (42) having a bore (60) for receiving a sample container (34). A flexible element (82) is disposed within the bore (60). A fluid passage is operatively connected with the flexible element (82) for supplying a fluid to the flexible element (82) such that, when the sample container (34) is received in the bore (60) in the body (42) of the sample container holder (18), the flexible element (82) engages the sample container (34) with a conforming, cushioning compression of sufficient magnitude to resist removal of the container (34) from the bore (60). A method of holding a container with a container holder is also provided comprising the following steps. The container is received within a bore on the container holder, and a fluid is conveyed through a fluid passage operatively connected with a flexible element within the bore such that the flexible element engages the container to retain the container within the bore.

Abstract: A mover (10) for moving a container (12) and a method of moving a container are provided.
