Abstract: Telecommunications systems are provided which include telecommunications equipment, multi-pair connectors and cables, and management devices for grooming the conductors of the connectors and cables for efficient use of the conductor pairs between equipment. A further management device provides cross-connect fields for the conductor pairs of the system. A chassis may house the grooming device, any cross-connect device, and possibly a POTS splitter device. The grooming and cross-connects may be manually controlled, or electronically controlled, including locally or remotely.

Abstract: A monitor circuit for indicating whether a digital cross-connect bay has a cross-connect jack that cross connects equipment being tested that includes a non-intrusive sensor for sensing current changes in a power feed line of the bay being monitored. The non-intrusive sensor is operatively coupled to a sensor device that generates a signal to activate an external sensor if a current change is detected by the sensor. The sensor device is powered from the same power supply as the bay it is monitoring.
