Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a power interrupting device for detecting remote operation from a detector/device and generating a signal capable of interrupting power to be applied a load such as an electronic display. CONSTITUTION: The detector 32 can sense remote operation and it is not always necessary to bring operation or a relative object into contact with the detector 32. Depending upon the existence/non-existence of operation, the detector 32 and a related interruption circuit can turn on or turn off a power load device such as an electronic display. The power interrupting device 10 is suitable for turning off the display when a user has left a working area or a room. Although a computer can be continuously operated, the relative display is remotely turned off and the quantity of heat radiated from the display during the period of user's absence can be reduced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control charging/discharging of an auxiliary battery by employing a charging control circuit for the auxiliary battery constituted of a pair of voltage dividers and a pair of comparators coupled between the ground potential and a main battery. SOLUTION: First and second voltage dividers 38, 40 are coupled between a main battery in an auxiliary battery charge control circuit 30, and the ground potential and the inverting input to a first comparator 46 is connected with the first voltage division node between resistor elements 42, 44. Similarly, the non-inverting input to a second comparator 52 is connected with the second voltage division node between the resistor elements 48, 50 of the second voltage divider 40. The non-inverting input to the first comparator 46 is connected with the inverting input to the second comparator 52. All of them are connected with a reference voltage and a transistor 36 is turned off, when the voltage of the main battery exceeds a maximum level or drops below a minimum level, thus controlling the charging/discharging operation of the auxiliary battery.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect the charge of a battery during the operation of an electronic apparatus by incorporating an indicator in the electronic apparatus using the battery as a power source and instantaneously activating the same by a switch. SOLUTION: The positive and negative terminals 14, 16 provided in an electronic apparatus are connected to a battery and a charge measuring circuit 18 is connected between the terminals 14, 16. In the circuit 18, voltage dividers 20,34 are connected between the Zener diode 30 of reference voltage and a terminal 14 and the nonreversal input of a comparator 42 and the reversal input of a comparator 44 are connected to a voltage dividing node 34 and the reversal input of a comparator 50 is connected to the outputs of the comparators 42, 44 through diodes 46, 52 and the non-reversal input thereof is connected to the voltage dividing node 20. The light emitting diodes 48, 54, 58 connected to the respective comparators emit the visible lights corresponding to the charge quantity of the battery to show a charge and discharge state. At this time, activity and non-activity are selected by the switch 40 provided between the circuit 18 and the terminal 16 to inspect the charge of the battery during the operation of the apparatus.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an electronic display and an electronic display controller for speedily and precisely adjusting the parameter of the visibility of a displayed object. CONSTITUTION: The electronic display controller 30 contains a clock circuit generating a variable frequency clock pulse. The pulses are received by a potentiometer 32 and the visibility of the displayed object can incrementally be adjusted. The clock signal of a low frequency is sent to the potentiometer 32 by driving more than one key 16 in the external housing of the display. When the key 16 is still active after a setting time period, the clock signal of the higher frequency is sent. At first, the signal of the low frequency and the clock signal of the high frequency secure the initial adjustment of the visibility of the object with high precision and secures speedy and rough adjustment if need.
