Abstract: A device for measuring the moisture content of a moisture-containing sample, which includes an electronic balance for measuring the weight of an airtight sample holder containing the sample and placed on a receiver thereof. The sample holder has a side wall provided with a gas discharge pipe extending horizontally outwardly from therefrom. A gas feed tube having a front portion inserted into the gas discharge pipe of the sample holder is held without contacting with the inside wall of the discharge pipe. An infrared lamp is disposed above the electronic balance to heat the sample in the sample holder and to remove the moisture from the sample. By feeding an inert gas through the feed tube into the sample holder, the heating of the sample with the lamp is performed in an inert gas atmosphere.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbon-containing solid held by a carbonaceous carrier by causing a condensable organic substance in a gas generated by the thermal decomposition of an organic substance to be adsorbed to and held by a carbonaceous carrier and polymerizing the condensable organic substances into a high-mol.wt. solid. SOLUTION: This carbon-containing solid is produced by a process comprising a thermal decomposition step wherein an organic substance is thermally decomposed into a thermal decomposition gas and a thermal decomposition residue; a holding step wherein the thermal decomposition gas is contacted with a carbonaceous carrier to cause the condensable organic substance to be held thereby; and a polymerization step wherein a polymerizable component in the held condensable organic substance is polymerized to convert the held organic substance into a carbon-containing solid. The organic substance includes a plastic waste, coal tar, a petroleum distillation residue, coal and petroleum pitches, or the like. The carbonaceous carrier includes coal, charcoal, or the like, and is used preferably in the form of a powder having an average particle size of 0.1-50 μm. The carbon-containing solid carried by a carbonaceous carrier as it is can be used advantageously as a material for producing methane. The condensable organic substance can be effectively prevented from being condensed in a pipeline on the downstream side or on the inner wall of the apparatus in the thermal decomposition step.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To treat stably a small quantity of powdery material continuously with heat and a chemical reaction by treating continuosly the powdery material in a horizontal type tubular reaction pipe, thereafter changing the stream of the powdery material to the ascending stream by means of the pressure caused during the transfer and overflowing it from the proper height. CONSTITUTION:A sheated thermocouple 13 for measuring the treatment temp. is inserted from one end of a reaction pipe 12. Coal is flowed in accordance with the vibration added to the reaction pipe 12 via a tightening metallic parts 14 and ascended through an overflow pipe 17 and overflowed and accumulated in the inside of a measuring tube. The level of coal incorporated in the measuring tube is detected with an infrared sensor 19 and a signal is generated. When confirming the signal, an operator opens a valve of a withdrawal port 21 and drops the coal incorporated in the measuring tube into a discharge bin 22 and also measures the interval of the signal and supervises the amount of coal to be treated. The air for oxidation is sent from the side close to the overflow pipe 17 and flowed in a counter current for the stream of coal and the oxidized production gas is drawn out near a coal feed port.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure an adsorption amount by a simple operation, in a short time, with good accuracy and at low cost. SOLUTION: This measuring apparatus is provided with an adsorption-gas supply source 7 which is used to supply an adsorption gas. The measuring apparatus is provided with a precision pressure gage 3. A measuring container 1 in which an electric precision balance 2 is housed is provided. An intermediate gas reservoir 9 which is installed between the adsorption-gas supply source 7 and the measuring container 1 and which stores an adsorption gas at a pressure higher than a set adsorption pressure inside the measuring container 1 is provided. A pressure regulator 10 which is installed between the adsorption- gas supply source 7 and the intermediate gas reservoir 9 is provided. A flow-rate regulating valve 13 which is installed between the intermediate gas reservoir 9 and the measuring container 1 is provided. A control and computing means 4 which receives pressure data from the precision pressure gage 3 and measured data from the electric precision balance 2, which controls the operation of the pressure regulator 10 and the flow-rate regulating valve 13 and which finds measured data on an adsorption amount is provided.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover a solid product in an analyzable amount and to exactly measure a useful produced gas amount and a solid product amount by bringing a sample into contact with reaction gas under the condition similar to a jet stream layer with respect to a batch wise jet stream type testing equipment excellent in reproducibility of the mobility of an experiment and a reaction condition. SOLUTION: This equipment is provided with a sample supply part transporting and supplying a powdery sample 11 to a reaction chamber 39 by pulsively supplying supply gas to the powdery sample 11 and a space for allowing the powdery sample 11 react with the reactive gas. Moreover, the reaction chamber 39 constituted so that a variation in weight of the whole reaction chamber 39 before and after reaction can be measured and a reaction termination and produced gas amount measuring means 50 and 51 capable of instantaneously transferring the produced gas in the reaction chamber 39 into a constant volume space and capable of simultaneously terminating gas-liq. reaction and having the function measuring the produced gas amount transferred to the constant volume space are provided for the equipment.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a moisture measuring apparatus which can efficiently and accurately measure moisture of easily oxidizable sample with a small amount of substitute gas without finely pulverizing the sample with a simple structure. CONSTITUTION:A sample vessel 1 having a vessel body 1 provided with a short tube 4 and a cover 3 having a hole 5 is used. An end of an inert gas supply tube 10 is fixedly held in a noncontact state in the vessel 1 through he tube 4 of the vessel 1 placed on a sample base 8 of an electronic pan balance 7. With this structure, inert gas supplied from the tube 10 is substituted for the gas in the vessel 1, and the gas in the vessel 1 is externally discharged from the gap between the tube 10 and the tube 4. The quantity of the gas flowing into the vessel 1 in a reversely mixed state in minimized during measuring by narrowing the width of the gap of the tube 4 of the vessel 1 and the tube 10, and the vessel 1 is held in an excellent inert gas atmosphere.
