    Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the input of a corona discharge before being converted to an arc discharge by setting an acicular electrode obtained by extending plural needle electrodes from the side face of a structural electrode in an electrode with the periphery grounded and also used as a waste gas duct. CONSTITUTION:An acicular electrode 1 is set in a square pole-shaped counter grounded electrode 8 provided with an external high-voltage power source 7 for a corona discharge, with both ends opened and also used as a duct. The acicular electrode 1 is formed by extending plural needle electrodes 4 of appropriate thickness and length from the side face of a square-pole structural electrode 3 having a current inlet terminal hole 2 at its tip in two to four directions. The lead wire of the acicular electrode 1 is brought out of the electrode 8 through an insulating support 6 and connected to the power source 7. A waste combustion gas is introduced into the electrode 8 in direction of the arrow 9. As a result, a current more than that of a rod-shaped electrode, namely the power, is obtained with the same voltage. Accordingly, the input of the corona discharge useful for desulfurization and denitration is increased.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiency obtain the subject compound in a high yield by treating tamarind seed xyloglucan with endoglucanase, etc., inoculating the treated xyloglucan with a galactose-utilizing microorganism, and subsequently culturing the inoculated microorganism to selectively consume only the galactose. CONSTITUTION:The method for producing the objective compound comprise acting an endo-1,4-beta-glucanase and beta-galactosidase on tamarind seed xyloglucan to produce the mixture of xyloglucan oligoheptasaccharide with galactose, inoculating the mixture with a galactose-utilizing microorganism such as a yeast having a galactose-utilizing ability, and subsequently culturing the inoculated microorganism to selectively consume only the galactose.

The reaction is carried out normally in a solution such as an acetic acid buffer solution.
