    Abstract: SEMIPERMEABLE MEMBRANE A semipermeable membrane having a surface comprised of a poly(arylacetylene) having at least a part of its benzene nuclei introduced with sulfonic acid groups. The poly(arylacetylene) is represented by the following structural formula (I): (I) wherein X stands for Cl, Br or CH3, R stands for H or CH3 and n is a positive integer. The semipermeable membrane may be obtained by subjecting a membrane formed of the poly(arylacetylene) of the formula (I) to sulfonation conditions or by sulfonating the poly(arylacetylene) of the formula (I), and forming the sulfonated product into membrane.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a permselective membrane by bringing a solution for forming films which contains sulfonated polyaryletherketone into contact to a water-base coagulant. CONSTITUTION:The polyaryletherketone having a recurrent unit expressed by formula I is sulfonated into a sulfonate compound having a sulfonyl group expressed by -SO3M (wherein M represents hydrogen, alkali metals or tertraalkylammonium). The sulfonate or a mixture of the sulfonate and polysulfone having a recurring unit expressed by formula II is mixed with an aprotic polar org. solvent and water-soluble low mol.wt. compd. (at least one of alcohol, carboxylate and ketone) as an additive. This solution for forming films is formed into a desired form and coagulated with a water-base coagulant. Thereby, the obtd. membrane has permselectivity with practical permeation rate of water. The membrane is suitable for a ultrafilter having excellent resistance to pH and chlorine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To accurately judge the capability of a semipermeable membrane by providing the liquid-contact terminal end portion of a square semipermeable membrane to be tested with inlet and outlet openings for a test solution having lengths equal to a membrane width and uniformly fluidizing the solution over the whole region of the surface of the semipermeable membrane in contact with the solution. CONSTITUTION:A cell is constituted such that inlet and outlet openings 4 and 5 which communicate with a test liquid introducing path 2 and a test liquid leadout path 3, respectively, are provided in a frame 1 made of a corrosion resistant metallic material to form a passage 6 and a semipermeable membrane 8 provided via a spacer 7 is fixed by a permeable support plate 9 and a cell lid 10. Purified water penetrated through the membrane 8 is introduced outside the cell via a sump 12. Test water led from the inlet opening 4 is uniformly fluidized with an equal velocity over the whole region of the passage 6 and drained from the outlet opening 5. Therefore, a pressure loss in the cell is reduced and the capability of the membrane can be accurately and quickly judged.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled membrane set with reduced loss of energy and pressure, easy to wash and having a large treating capacity per unit volume by fixing a plural-layer membrane sheet with a mechanism for taking out a permeated fluid at least at one site. CONSTITUTION:A carrier 21 used as the passage of a permeated fluid is wrapped up by sheet-shaped separation members 22a and 22b, plural membrane sheets 20 obtained by bonding the peripheral edge parts of the separation membrane are prepared, a pipe 30 for taking out the permeated liq. from the inside of the membrane sheet is inserted into a hole 23 furnished to each sheet and the sheets are laminated. A take-out hole 31 communicating with the inside of the membrane sheet in correspondence with each hole 23 is provided to the pipe 30 and discoid bodies 33a and 33b are screwed on the pipe 30. The membrane set thus obtained is fixed in the vessel 40 of a fluid separator while leaving a clearance at both ends. A raw fluid 50a to be filtered is introduced from a pipe 41, the concd. fluid 50b is taken out from a pipe 42 and the permeated fluid is taken out from a pipe 43.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain a high permeation flux over a long period of time and to allow efficient sepn. with good efficiency by providing flow rate sensors in two lines among the liquid inflow, concd. liquid and permeated liquid line of a rotary flat membrane module and controlling the discharge rate of a liquid supply pump via a controller so as to maintain a constant flow rate ratio. CONSTITUTION:The flow rate sensors 5 and 6 are installed respectively in the concd. liquid line 8 and permeated water line of the rotary flat membrane module 3. The signals from the flow rate sensors are taken into a controller 4 and a signal is sent from the controller 4 to a liquid supply pump 2 to vary the discharge rate of the pump. The sludge concn. in the rotary flat membrane module 3 is controlled by the ratio (concn. ratio Qi/Qo) of the discharge rate (Qi) of the pump and the concd. liquid volume (Qo) from the module. The sharp drop of the permeation flux is prevented by controlling the flow rate ratio constant in such a manner. The relatively high permeation flux is thereby maintained over a long period of time.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a decrease in the membrane permeating rate and to operate the title separator for a long time by expanding a sponge part in cleaning, bringing the expanded sponge part into contact with the membrane surface, and allowing the sponge part to act as a baffle in the normal operation. CONSTITUTION:Plural rotary discoid membranes 3 to be rotated synchronously with a permeated water collecting pipe 2 are provided in the axial direction of the pipe 2 set in a treating device 1. Plural sponge parts 6 placed between the membranes 3 are connected to the branches of a gas inlet line 5, and the line 5 is connected to a compressed gas part. Plural holes 9 are provided to the branch of the line 5, and the one three-way valve 7 or two two-way valves connected to a control box 8 are provided to the line 5. The sponge part 6 is formed by an expandable bag 10, a porous expandable bag 12 having many holes for air cleaning, and a sponge layer 11. As a result, a decrease in the membrane permeating rate is prevented, and the separator can be operated for a long time.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To filter solution containing considerably rough suspended material with small energy loss by moving a membrane separating unit consisting of a plurality of laminated membrane supporting sheets covered with a semipermeable membrane reciprocatingly in a treatment tank. CONSTITUTION:A membrane unit 3 consisting of membrane sheets 1, constituted of membrane supporting sheets covered with a semipermeable membrane, laminated at given intervals 2, is mounted on support fitments 4, 4' moving reciprocatingly and immersed in a solution tank 5 for filtering. Filtering is carried out by means of suction or pressurizing while the membrane unit 3 is moved reciprocatingly. Fluid having permeated the membrane flows through a permeating fluid flow channel formed between the membrane supporting sheets and the membrane and a collection tube 6 and discharged out of a permeable fluid discharge tube 7. Solution between membrane sheets are fluidized hard by the periodical turnover in the moving direction of the membrane unit generated by its reciprocating movement to control the concentration polarization and carry out filtration with good efficiency.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To clean a membranous sheet without taking out the sheet from a vessel housing the sheet by providing the vessel capable of fixing plural bag- shaped membranous sheets at its one end and a mechanism for imparting vibration to the membranous sheet. CONSTITUTION:Plural bag-shaped membranous sheets 22 consisting of a flat separation membrane are fixed to each other at one end by a pipe 30 for discharging a permeated fluid from the inside of the membranous sheet to form a set 20 of membranes. The membrane set 20 is set in the cylindrical vessel 10, and the discharge pipe 30 is fixed to the vessel 10. A pipe 40 provided with plural holes 41 on its surface facing the membrane set 20 is provided below the lower end of the membrane set 20 in the vessel. When a gas such as compressed air is sent into the pipe 40 from the outside, the gas flows out as bubbles 42 into the liq. in the vessel, hence the membranous sheet 22 is vibrated, and the material deposited on the surface of the membranous sheet is released.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the membrane permeating rate on the title separator constant and to reduce the running cost by positioning the permeated water discharge tip of a water collecting line below the level of a liq. to be treated to form a siphon. CONSTITUTION:Plural discoid membranes 7 to be rotated along with a hollow rotating shaft 6 are provided at regular intervals in the axial direction of the shaft 6 to form a membrane separation means 5. The means 5 is set in a liq. tank 1. The permeated water from the membrane 7 is collected in the hollow part of the shaft 6, and discharged to the outside of the separator. The shaft 6 is set vertically to the level of the liq. to be treated, and a permeated water collecting line 10 is provided at one end of the shaft 6 above the liq. level. The suction device 10 is provided in the line 11, and the tip of the line 11 is positioned below the level of the liq. to be treated. As a result, a constant membrane permeating rate can be obtained irrespective of the depth of the set membrane, and the running cost is reduced because the permeated water is discharged by the siphon.
