Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive high hardness cemented carbide excellent in oxidation resistance by constituting the cemented carbide of the alloy of Fe and Al one or more kinds of Co and Ni as bonding phase forming components, and the balance carbide as dispersed phase forming components. CONSTITUTION:This cemented carbide is constituted of 1 to 40wt.% the alloy of Fe and Al and one or more kinds of Co and Ni as bonding phase forming components, and the balance carbide as dispersed phase forming components, preferably consisting of WC with inevitable impurities. In this case, it is preferable that the bonding phase forming component consists essentially of Fe and is added with 0.5 to 5% Al which has been considered as an inhibiting element heretofore. The cemented carbide is obtd. by wet or dry-blending the powder of Fe, Al, Co, Ni or the like as metals or alloys and WC powder into a prescribed compsn., thereafter press-compacting them, sintering the compact at about 1400 to 1550 deg.C in a vacuum and executing HIP treatment as necessary.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To embody a cast product varying in surface characteristics and internal characteristics by coating the inside wall of a casting mold with metallic powder, then pouring molten metal into this mold. CONSTITUTION:The metallic powder with which the inside wall of the casting mold is coated is preferably the powder of an amorphous or nonequil. state obtd. by a rapid cooling or mechanical alloying method as this powder can be sintered even if the temp. of the molten metal is lower. The metallic powder may be pure metal or alloy. The metallic powder may otherwise be a mixture composed of plural kinds. The metallic powder having preferably 0.1 to 50mum particle sizes is used. This metallic powder is dispersed into an org. solvent to prepare a slurry and this slurry is poured into the casting mold. The residual liquid is discharged after 30 to 60 seconds and the casting mold is dried. The casting mold is then calcined at need. The product having the surface which is a sintered layer and is fine in structure and exhibits the characteristics different from the characteristics of the internal casting layer is obtd.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To rapidly form a transparent casting mold having intricate shapes with simple operation by embedding a wax pattern model into a photosetting resin compsn. and curing this photosetting resin compsn. by irradiating with light, then heating the wax pattern model to melt, thereby allowing the wax to flow out. CONSTITUTION:The photosetting resin compsn. or more preferably UV curing resin compsn. is put into a transparent container having light transmissivity in a dark room. The wax pattern model is embedded therein and is subjected to a degassing treatment at need and is then irradiated with light, by which the photosetting resin compsn. is cured; thereafter, the wax pattern model is heated to melt until the wax flows out. The curing time is shorter and the calorific value per unit time associated with the curing is larger as the quantity of light for curing the photosetting resin compsn. is larger. As a result, the misrun and gas inclusion defect in casting are controlled by observing the inside of the transparent casting mold by a water model to recognize the fluid condition of the molten metal in the casting mold.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily and rapidly subject the surface of a casting material to a hardening treatment by coating the inside wall of the cavity of a casting mold for precision casting with >=1 kinds of the ceramic powders selected from ceramics of carbide, nitride, boride. CONSTITUTION:The powders of the ceramics of carbides, nitrides, boride are deposited on the inside wall of the cavity of the casting mold for precision casting. The deposition is executed by dispersing, for example, the ceramic powder into an org. solvent such as ethyl alcohol or water to prepare a slurry, pouring this slurry into the cavity of the casting mold, discharging the remaining liquid after standing for a required period of time and drying the inside of the cavity of the casting mold, thereby depositing the ceramic powder. Calcination is then executed usually in the atm. or nitrogen atmosphere. Finally, casting is executed by pouring the melt of active metals having a high m.p. such as titanium alloy and zirconium alloy into the cavity of such casting mold. The hardened layer is obtd. by a surface hardening method. This casting mold is appalicable to a precision casting method aiming near net shape molding.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent molten from being immediately solidified and adhering to an inner wall surface of a crucible further improve the yield of the product by a method wherein a cold crucible levitation melting is carried out by using the crucible having the inner wall surface coated with a refractory ceramic coating. CONSTITUTION:A copper crucible 10 is made such that a high frequency induction heating coil 12 is arranged to enclose the crucible 10 on its outer circumference. A side wall of the crucible 10 is divided into a plurality of segments 14 through insulation joint materials 15. Each of the segments 14 is formed with a cooling water hole 16. In a system in which metallic raw materials are cold crucible levitation melted, an inner wall surface of the crucible 10 is coated with a ceramic coating 20 comprised of mixture material of Y2O3 and ZrO3 sols with a thickness less than 5000mum. With such an arrangement, even if there is a possibility that the molten metal is contacted with the inner wall surface due to an oscillation of oil column within the crucible, the molten metal is prevented from being immediately solidified due to a thermal insulating action of the coated material 20.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for fining metallographic structure. SOLUTION: This method for fining the metallographic structure is the one, in which cavitations (voids) in the molten metal are formed by giving high energy vibrating force to the metal during solidifying, newly formed solid crystal grains are crushed and decomposed with impact pressure generated when the cavitations disappear to fine the structure of the material. For example, in a device composed of electrodes 11 which applies AC current to a metallic sample 10 and an electromagnet 12 which impresses DC magnetic field, a high energy electromagnetic vibrating force is given to the metallic sample during the processing of the solidification by simultaneously impressing the electric current and the magnetic field, and the solid crystal grains are crushed and decomposed to execute the formation of the fine structure.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To easily enable the formation of a material having uniform quality without defect by controlling fluid condition at the time of filling up a base material of solid-liquid coexistence in a mold through a porous body. CONSTITUTION: The solid-liquid coexisting material 3 is held in a container 2 of a solid-liquid coexisting body holding part (a) and pressed in the metallic mold 5 of a forming part (b) fitted with a stainless steel-made wire net 4 with a piston 1 and formed. The fluid condition of the metal material in the solid- liquid coexisting state is controlled at the time of filling the solid-liquid coexisting material 3 into the mold of the metallic mold 5, etc., through the porous body like wire net 4, etc., to restrain the entrapment of atmospheric gas into the forming body. The material 3 is made to be one kind selected from the metal or complex material containing metal and ceramic and/or plastic. By this method, the grain distribution and the shape of solid phase grains can be controlled.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a slurry for molding of casting molds without impairing the stability of an inorg. oxide sol at the time of preparing the slurry for molding of the casting molds by coating surfaces of >=1 kinds of the powders selected from yttrria and calcia with hydrophobic org. matter and mixing these powders into the inorg. oxide soln. CONSTITUTION:The slurry is first prepd. by dispersing the yttria powder and the calcia powder into a solvent into which the hydrophobic org. matter such as paraffin or stearic acid is incorporated, more preferably the volatile solvent and mixing the solvent with a stirrer such as disperser. The resulted slurry is sprayed and dried to obtain the powder material for the casting molds for precision casting. The production of the casting molds for precision casting is executed by immersing a wax pattern into the slurry for molding of the casting molds mixed with the inorg. oxide sol such as zirconia sol and the powder material for the casting molds and pulling up this wax pattern, then sprinkling coarse refractory powders thereon, dewaxing the pattern and calcining the pattern. then, the solutionization of the yttria powder, etc., into the inorg. oxide sol is prevented.

CONSTITUTION:After the layer of the material for the refractory shell is formed, the layer is subjected to a treatment for sealing its holds with hydrocarbons, such as stearic acid, paraffin, vaseline and glycerol and thereafter, the layer of the material for the reinforcing shell is laminated and formed. The above- mentioned layer is otherwise subjected to a surface cleaning treatment by detergents, such as ethanol, acetone, hexane and xylene, by which the hydrocarbons in the surface part of the layer of the material for the refractory shell are removed, after the layer is subjected to the sealing treatment by the hydrocarbons.
