Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound having a bonding strength, selectivity and a bonding number equal to or more than those of natural nucleic acid bases without affected its bonding ability by chemical modifications and useful as a nucleic acid base-scavenger by hydrolyzing the chlorine atom in a specific heterocyclic compound. SOLUTION: This N-containing heterocyclic compound expressed by formula II (R is an alkyl), e.g. 2,6-dihydroxy-4,8-dioctadecyl-pyrimido[5,4-d]pyrimidine, etc.), is obtained by hydrolyzing the chlorine atom in a heterocyclic compound expressed by formula I, e.g. 2,6-dichloro-4,8-dioctadecyl-pyrimido[5,4- d]pyrimidine, etc.}, preferably in the presence of 18-crown-6 and potassium hydroxide. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting 2,4,6,8- tetrachloropyrimido[5,4-d]pyrimidine with an amine such as octadecylamine or the like.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new complex having excellent solubility in an organic solvent and high oxygen adsorptivity and useful as an oxygen scavenger, etc., by reacting a specific bissalicylaldehyde derivative with tetramethylethylenediamine and reacting with a cobalt salt. SOLUTION: The new macrocyclic cobalt Schiff base complex is expressed by formula I[R1 is a (substituted)phenylene, a (substituted)pyridilene or a (substituted)alkylene; R2 to R6 are each H, a substituted)phenyl, a (substituted) alkyl, a halogen or a (substituted)alkoxy; Me is methyl] and has excellent solubility in an organic solvent and high oxygen adsorptivity, and is useful as an oxygen scavenger, etc. The new complex is obtained by reacting a bissalicylaldehyde derivative of formula II as a new compound with tetramethylethylenediamine to generate a macrocyclic Schiff base and reacting with a divalent cobalt salt such as cobalt acetate 4 hydrate.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a new diamide derivative of an alpha-amino acid useful as an ion transporting agent of selectively and continuously separating cupric ion from an aqueous solution in the presence of various ions, namely ionophore. CONSTITUTION:A diamide derivative of an a-amino acid of the formula (R1 and R2 are H, alkyl, arylalkyl or aryl) such as 8-(N-acetylphenylalanylamino) quinoline. The compound of the formula is obtained by amidating an amino group of an alpha-amino acid with a carboxylic acid anhydride or a carboxylic acid chloride, reacting the resulting substance with 1 equivalent acid halide to give a corresponding mixed acid anhydride and reacting the mixed acid anhydride with 1 equivalent 8-aminoquinoline. The new compound of the formula can be concentrated against ingredient of concentration by taking advantage of pH difference in both the aqueous phases.

The compound of formula I is obtained, e.g. by hydrolyzing a compound of formula II (R is an alkyl), e.g., 2,6-dichloro-4,8- dioctadecyl-pyrimido[5,4-d]pyrimidine, etc.}, preferably by using a solution containing 18-crown-6 and potassium hydroxide.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for rapidly and efficiently preparing enamines without forming a coprosuct by using cheap low toxic amines having N-H bond, and terminal acetylene compounds as raw materials and reacting the raw materials in the presence of a ruthenium complex. SOLUTION: (A) An amine (e.g. N-methylaniline) having at least one N-H bond and N atom having H, an alkyl or the like as a substituent, or forming a cyclic compound containing N atom, having one N-H bond and a substituent selected from an alkylene, aralkylene or the like is reacted with (B) a terminal acetylene compound (e.g. phenylacetylene) in the presence of (C) a ruthenium complex (preferably a complex containing an organic ligand, e.g. dodecacarbonyltriruthenium) to provide (D) the objective enamine [e.g. N-methyl- N-(α-styryl)aniline] in the method for preparing the enamines. As a result, the enamines useful as synthetic raw materials for fine chemicals are provided by one step.

SOLUTION: This complex solution for separating oxygen is obtained by dissolving a cobalt Schiff base complex of the formula [R1 is a (substituted) phenylene, a (substituted) pyridylene or a (substituted) alkylene; R2 to R5 are each H, a (substituted) phenyl, a (substituted) alkyl, a halogen or a (substituted) alkoxy; Me is methyl] in an organic solvent (e.g. o-dichlorobenzene) in 0.1-1mol/l concentration of the cobalt Schiff base complex, causes a phase separation due to the binding of the complex to oxygen resulting from adsorption of oxygen to cause precipitation as a solid phase and is capable of separating oxygen from an oxygen-containing gas such as air in high efficiency.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound useful as a nucleic acid base scavenger. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula I (R to R are each amino, hydroxyl or F, wherein at least one of R to R is hydroxyl or F), e.g. 2,6- dichloro-4,8-dioctadecyl-pyrimide[5,4-d]pyrimidine. A compound shown by formula III, which is one of those shown by the formula I, is obtained by hydrolyzing chlorine at the 2- and 6-site contained in a compound shown by formula II (R is a hydrocarbon or H) with an aqueous solution containing KOH and 18-crown-6. The compound shown by the formula I is selectively bonded, via hydrogen bonding, to a heterocyclic compound having a partial structure of naturally occurring material related to nucleic acid or nucleic acid base, and can enhance separation/recovery or purification efficiency. It is highly selective, and useful as a material for stabilizing or quantitative analysis of nucleic acid base-related materials of similar properties.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable repetition of reversible adsorption and desorption of nitrogen at a normal temp. and under normal pressure by bringing a pair of electrodes into contact with soln. of a ruthenium complex which can absorb and emit molecular nitrogen and controlling the electrode potential. SOLUTION: A ruthenium complex is expressed by formula I (wherein R is H, hydrocarbon group, fluorinated hydrocarbon group; X, Y are ligands) or formula II (wherein R is a hydrocarbon group; R' is H, hydrocarbon group; X, Y are ligands). The voltage to be applied is controlled to the potential which can reduce the complex to bivalent or lower valence when nitrogen is to be adsorbed to the ruthenium complex. On the other hand, the voltage is controlled to the potential which can oxidize the complex to tervalent or higher valence when nitrogen is to be desorbed. The reaction soln. to adsorb and desorb nitrogen gas is prepared by dissolving the complex in water, alcohol or a mixture liquid of water and alcohol. In this case, an electrolyte comprising a pair of cation and anion is added to the soln. As the working electrodes, porous carbon electrodes or the like are used.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure adsorption/desorption of gas automatically under constant temperature and pressure conditions by using a dynamic stabilization method and regulating the volume of gas itself in a reaction container automatically while measuring the fluctuation of volume simultaneously and automatically. SOLUTION: A reaction container 1 is set in a thermostatic bath 4 while containing an object 2 and a gas phase 3 prevails other part. A gas line 7 above the reaction container 1 is coupled with a pressure gauge 8 for detecting pressure variation in the reaction container 1 in real time. The gas line 7 is branched and coupled through a gas line 9 with an automatic precise syringe pump 10 for detecting the gas phase volume variation in the system. Based on a real time data from the pressure gauge 8, a computer 14 delivers a control signal for sustaining the inner pressure of the container at a constant level to the syringe pump 10. Furthermore, the computer 14 analyzes the adsorption/ desorption of gas automatically based on the gas phase volume variation data measured by the syringe pump 10 and corrects the adsorption/desorption of gas based on the data from a second temperature sensor 12 provided for the syringe pump 10, as required.
