Abstract: An AB2C2-type ternary hydrogen storage alloy comprising an AB2C2 phase as main ingredient, where A comprises at least one of a rare-earth element and Ca, B mainly comprises Mg, and C comprises at least one of transition metal elements of Cu, Ni, Co, Fe, Cr, Mn, Ti, V and Zn, and x and y represent values within the ranges of 1.5 ≤ x ≤ 2.5 and 1.5 ≤ y ≤ 3.5, respectively; and an AB2C3-type ternary hydrogen storage alloy comprising an AB2C3 phase as a main ingredient, where A comprises at least one of a rare-earth element and Ca, B mainly comprises Mg, and C comprises at least one of transition metal elements of Cu, Ni, Co, Fe, Cr, Mn, Ti, V and Zn, each of which has large hydrogen storage capability and desorbing amount per unit weight and hydrogen storage characteristics excellent in reversibility of the hydrogen absorption and desorption and is provided by improving the stability in a hydride state of an alloy mainly comprising a lightweight metal element and increasing the hydrogen dissociation pressure of the hydride.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a large amount of pure human lysozyme useful for medical treatment, inexpensively, by transforming a host yeast cell with a plasmid vector into which a specific synthetic human lysozyme is inserted and cultivating the prepared transformant. CONSTITUTION:A human lysozyme gene having a nucleotide sequence consisting of a nucleotide shown by the formula, obtained by chemical synthesis, is inserted into a given site (e.g., BamHI cleavage site) of a plasmid vector (e.g., pBR322) capable of multiplying in yeast cell and of transferring and translating the inserted gene, to form a recombinant plasmid (e.g., pHLY-1). Then, yeast is transformed with the recombinant plasmid to give a transformant [Saccharomyces cerevisiae KK4(YEpHYL-1)]. Then, this transformant is cultivated in a medium consisting of several amino acids, uracil, galactose to produce human lysozyme.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a promoter useful for the expression of heterogenetic gene in a system containing yeast as a host, and having the region represented by a specific DNA base sequence to the upstream-side of the 5'-terminal in addition to the known base sequence region of a yeast enolase promoter. CONSTITUTION:The region expressed by the DNA base sequence of formula is linked to the upstream-side of 5'-terminal of a yeast enolase promoter in addition to the known base sequence region of the promoter. The obtained promoter has the expression activity of the gene managing the yeast enolase, and is useful for the expression of heterogenic gene in a system containing yeast as a host. The promoter contains the region corresponding to about 720 base pairs sited upstream from the enolase translation initiation codon.
